Stolen Ambulance Causes Stir in Huntington
A man named Anthony Bell, 37 was arrested for stealing an ambulance while medics were at a recovery home in Huntington, WV. Bell was taken to Western Regional Jail at 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday after being caught on camera taking the ambulance on Monday morning. He was wanted for felony stolen auto and some smaller crimes, according to the Huntington Police Department. The incident was recorded on a dash camera.
The medics were upset because they were helping someone at a facility with addiction problems, and Bell took the ambulance and left it near Third Street and Division Street West. The ambulance rolled backward into a retaining wall.
Samuel McGuffin, a homeowner, felt his entire home shake from the ambulance hitting the retaining wall. He described the scene as bizarre, with the ambulance’s lights on but nobody inside to help.
McGuffin’s retaining wall was damaged. This was the third time an ambulance had been stolen in the county. Thankfully, no one was injured.
