In a heartbreaking and tragic accident, Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman’s 13-year-old step-grandson, Anthony, was fatally shot by his own father, Gregory Zecca, in an apartment in Naples, Florida, on July 19.
Police confirmed the incident occurred around 8 p.m. and described it as an “isolated incident.” No arrests have been made as the investigation remains ongoing. The family has stated the shooting was accidental.
Anthony was the son of Gregory Zecca, who is the child of Chapman’s wife, Francie Chapman, from a previous marriage. Duane and Francie married in 2021 after bonding over the loss of their spouses to cancer.
A representative for Chapman told TMZ:
“We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”
This tragedy marks yet another emotional blow to the Chapman family. Duane lost his wife of 13 years, Beth Chapman, in 2019 to cancer. Francie’s late husband, Bob, died of cancer just six months earlier. Their shared grief initially brought Duane and Francie together.
