A tech company has launched a formal investigation after a viral “kiss cam” moment at a Coldplay concert appeared to involve its CEO.
Astronomer, a New York City-based data startup, confirmed on Friday that its Board of Directors has initiated an investigation into the July 16 incident at Coldplay’s Boston concert. A man and woman caught on the Jumbotron were seen hiding their faces after being shown embracing—prompting speculation online and a comment from Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin, who jokingly said, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The video has now surpassed 55 million views on TikTok.
Internet sleuths quickly alleged that the man in the video was Astronomer CEO Andy Byron. While the company did not confirm or deny his identity in the video, it addressed the controversy in a LinkedIn statement, saying, “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”
Astronomer clarified that Byron has not issued a statement, despite rumors to the contrary. The company also confirmed that no other employees were involved in the video.
