Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal, widely known as “The Sleeping Prince,” has passed away nearly 20 years after slipping into a coma following a tragic car accident in London in 2005.
His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, announced the heartbreaking news, confirming that funeral prayers will be held on Sunday at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, following the Asr prayer.
Prince Alwaleed fell into a complete coma while studying in the UK and remained unconscious for almost two decades. Despite brief signs of limited movement, he never fully regained consciousness. Throughout the years, his father remained steadfast in refusing to remove life support, stating that “life and death are in God’s hands.”
The prince’s story resonated deeply across Saudi Arabia and the wider region, where he became a symbol of hope, faith, and resilience. His condition was followed closely by millions, making his passing a moment of national sorrow.
