A Student Saves Lives During A Mississippi Bus Accident | The Young Hero Took Control Of The Bus And Saved 56!
A student from the University of South Carolina is hailed as a hero after he saved the lives of 56 students on board. The incident occurred following a blowout on the Interstate on a Dixon Motor Express charter bus. When the driver was ejected while losing control a student took control and avoided significant injuries during the severe bus crash.
Some injured were airlifted and some were admitted to local hospitals. Followingly the crash is now under investigation by the MHP. Let’s have a closer look at the Mississippi bus accident.
How The Mississippi Accident Happened?
The bus was transporting fraternity members and guests to an event in New Orleans, Louisiana. The driver was 55-year-old Tina Wilson of Roebuck. She lost control after the tire blew out but tried to stand with the steering wheel to avoid the crash. Unfortunately, when the bus hit 4 for wheels again, the windshield shattered and ejected the driver.
Followingly the bus started to move without a driver. However, Paul Clune, a USC student, jumped up and ran to the front of the bus. He grabbed the steering wheel and stopped the bus from tipping over. The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-10 near Highway 603.
What Happened After The Mississippi Bus Accident?
Despite their efforts, eleven people were injured in the incident. Two including the driver were immediately airlifted for the treatments. Followingly nine other students were taken to local hospitals by ambulance. Passengers who weren’t injured were brought to Bay St. Louis’ courthouse in school buses. Followingly another charter bus was being arranged for the student’s transportation. Also, the crash remains under investigation by the MHP.
