Steve Harwell has reached the end of the line and has been moved to his home to live out his final days. After being in hospice care, the carers have determined that there is nothing else they can do as he battles end-stage liver failure. They have relented to allow him to spend his last days of life at home surrounded by his loved ones. Let’s have a look at where the singer is now.
The iconic voice of Steve Harwell will go on forever. The singer has been battling with liver failure after a lifetime of alcohol and substance abuse. Steve is only 56 years old. His family has been gathering around him for the past 3 days or so. It is not know when he will reach his last breath. Nevertheless, it will be a significant and tragic loss.
According to a statement made to NBC, being a singer in a rock band was Harwell’s childhood dream. He counts himself lucky to have been able to live his dream. His success achieved is beyond his wildest expectations. His band, Smash Mouth, was formed in 1994 in the San Francisco Bay area. Their more well-known and popular hits include “All-Star“, “Walkin’ on the Sun” and their cover of the Monkees’ “I’m a Believer.” The songs propelled to the top of the charts. Some songs are even in the animation blockbuster Shrek.
Along with liver failure, Steve also battled with cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and Wernicke’s encephalopathy among other diagnoses. The family appreciates the sensitivity of the public at this time. The family requests all to not invade Steve’s home and privacy in his last moments.
