Ross Bollinger‘s Pencilmation is an animated web series in which he produces stick figures and doodles with a pencil. The series Pencilmation also includes bonus content such as the season side-splitter “Do You Like My Decorations?” Ross Bollinger produces and directs these cartoons, animated and arranged by diverse artists worldwide.
Bollinger was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on November 15, 1987. Bollinger can play the guitar, violin, ukulele, and also piano, among other instruments. Mr Maznevski, a Canadian elementary school teacher, introduced Bollinger to animation in the fifth grade. Maznevski organized a stop-motion animation workshop during the summer.
There Bollinger and other students learned to make stop-motion animation with webcams and clay. Bollinger would make his own stop-motion Claymation at home not long after. This launched Bollinger’s interest in animation, which he has maintained. Bollinger took a computer lesson in school where he learnt the fundamentals of an early version of Adobe Flash. Bollinger came up with the idea for Pencilmation after seeing the classic Looney Tunes (Merrie Melodies) short Duck Amuck. And it inspired him to do a flash animation.
Ross Bollinger lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his wife.
