G-Dragon | Before & After The Military Service
G-Dragon is a 34-year-old Korean rapper, songwriter, and singer who has been in the Korean Entertainment industry for 17 Years in the industry. He couldn’t hold a fan meeting before leaving for the military, but fans gathered near the campsite to see him leave. Fans were heartbroken by the announcement of his enlistment.
G-Dragon served in the Military as required for 18 Months of service from February 2018 to October 2019.

A press conference was held to welcome the singer after the military. In his uniform, he bowed and said: ‘I’ve returned after completing my military service. Thank you for waiting for me and for coming to see me today. I will be returning to my original occupation, and I will work hard.”
Shortly after his discharge, G-Dragon became the first Korean musician to partner with Nike in November 2019 for the Nike Air Force 1 Para-Noise. Also, he signed a modeling contract with a famous beverage brand called Chapai in China. The singer made his comeback with BIGBANG in 2022, with the song “Still life”.

Why should all men in South Korea serve in the Military?
Conscription, under the Constitution of South Korea, states that it is mandatory for all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years to serve in the Military. The duration of the service differs according to the military branch they serve. Usually, Active soldiers serve for a period of 18 months, Navy soldiers for 20 months, and Air force soldiers for 21 months.
Male citizens between the above age range go through an ‘Impairment and Disability evaluation’ before enlisting in the “first citizen service” mandate.
The singer G-Dragon also had to serve as required despite having some breakthrough moments as an artist in the entertainment industry.
