U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that American forces sank dozens of Iranian naval vessels near Sri Lanka during the ongoing conflict with Iran.
Speaking at a rally in Hebron, Kentucky, Trump said U.S. military operations had destroyed 46 Iranian ships in just a few days.
He described the vessels as “top of the line” and said the Iranian navy had been largely wiped out during the campaign.
Military operations involving U.S. naval forces are typically reported through the U.S. Central Command, which oversees American forces in the Middle East.
Trump Describes Conversation With Generals
During the rally, Trump said he asked military officials why the U.S. did not capture the Iranian ships instead of destroying them.
