A child’s birthday celebration in California was shattered by an unimaginable act of violence. Gunmen opened fire indiscriminately, killing four individuals aged 8, 9, 14, and 21, and leaving 11 others injured, according to Sheriff Patrick Withrow of San Joaquin County. “These animals walked in and shot children at a children’s birthday party, and none of us should stand for that,” Withrow expressed vehemently.
The tragic event unfolded on Saturday night at a banquet hall in Stockton just before 6 p.m. Victims and attendees were caught off guard as multiple shooters reportedly swept in, discharging rounds both inside and outside the venue.
“We’re confident that this was not a random act. They walked into this area probably looking for someone in particular,” Withrow stated.
Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi, hinting at potential gang links, called for more clarity as investigations continue. The search for evidence, including video and ballistics, is ongoing, while no suspects have been apprehended as of Sunday night.
