The vaccine, called Enteromix, is designed to be personalized for each patient. FMBA head Veronica Skvortsova explained that Enteromix adapts to a patient’s individual RNA profile. Its first target is colorectal cancer, one of the world’s most common and deadly forms of the disease. Research is also underway to apply Enteromix against glioblastoma, a highly aggressive brain cancer, and specific types of melanoma, including ocular melanoma.
Unlike childhood vaccines for measles or chickenpox, which prevent infections, Enteromix is a therapeutic vaccine. It trains the immune system to recognize and attack existing cancer cells, offering a potential new tool in modern oncology. Preclinical results showed significant tumor shrinkage, slowed growth, and safety even after repeated use.
