In March 2014, Spanish sports reporting said Cristiano Ronaldo had offered to cover approximately €60,000 for surgery for Erik Ortiz Cruz, a ten-month-old boy with cortical dysplasia and frequent seizures.

The family had sought signed football memorabilia for fundraising, according to accounts of the appeal. Reports said Ronaldo’s response went beyond that request and included an offer to help with medical costs.

This is a historical account of a reported offer. The sources reviewed here do not establish the final payment record, the procedure’s outcome or the child’s present health. The euro estimate is the clearest original amount, while dollar equivalents depend on the exchange rate used.
