Rachel Tussey, the beloved Ohio TikTok creator known for sharing her everyday life with over 27,000 devoted followers, has tragically passed away at 47 following a cosmetic surgery procedure that left her brain-dead. Her husband Jeremy confirmed the devastating news Wednesday, revealing that Rachel was officially pronounced dead Tuesday night after being taken off life support.
“Last night, my wife Rachel lost her battle while in hospice care,” Jeremy wrote in an emotional GoFundMe post. “Rachel was an amazing wife, mother, and person who touched so many lives. We will carry her memory with us always.”
A Procedure She Had Been Dreaming Of
The mother of three had been openly documenting her journey toward the abdominoplasty on TikTok in the weeks leading up to her February 25th surgery at JourneyLite Surgery Center in Evendale, Ohio. She told fans it was something she had been looking forward to for a very long time, sharing positive messages with her followers under the handle @midlifeunmuted.
In what would become her final video, a heartbreakingly upbeat Rachel told her community, “I’m in good hands. I know God’s got my back. Let’s do this.”
She never came home.
Shortly after going under the knife, Rachel became unresponsive after being administered painkillers in the recovery room. Her husband Jeremy watched as a nurse attempted CPR, but said there was no sense of urgency. Doctors later told him Rachel had been without oxygen for over six minutes. She spent the following days on a ventilator, and her family made the gut-wrenching decision to remove life support after she was declared brain-dead.
Surgeon Speaks Out, But Husband Isn’t Buying It
TMZ was first to report that Dr. Shahryar Tork broke his silence following Rachel’s passing, saying he was “devastated” and called the outcome “an unimaginable tragedy.” He had previously maintained that the operation went smoothly, stating the procedure “was completed successfully and without complications” and that Rachel was in “excellent condition” when he last checked on her in recovery. Dr. Tork has since discontinued procedures at JourneyLite Surgery Center, noting that post-operative monitoring was overseen by staff contracted by the independent facility, not his practice.
But Jeremy Tussey isn’t satisfied with that explanation. In a raw, emotional TikTok address to his late wife’s followers, a grieving Jeremy pointed fingers directly at the medical team involved.
“To me, it looks like incompetency,” he said. “Somebody dropped the ball and killed my wife.”

The family retained attorney Bernie Layne III, who confirmed that Rachel suffered a permanent anoxic brain injury. The family’s statement made clear that “the action of every medical professional and other entities related to Rachel Tussey’s care will be thoroughly analyzed and investigated moving forward.”
A GoFundMe set up to support the family has raised over $36,000 as of this writing, just shy of its $40,000 goal.
A Community in Mourning
Rachel was remembered by friends as selfless and community-minded, having dedicated countless hours to helping others, including organizing donation drives in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. She is survived by her husband Jeremy and their three children: Tristan, Alec, and Livi.
