Pregnant Woman On 9/11 Flight Makes A Heartbreaking Final Call to Husband - Her Baby’s Name Is on the Wall Too!

On September 11, 2001, an act of unimaginable tragedy unfolded. Amidst the horror, stories of courage and resilience emerged, with Lauren Grandcolas standing as a beacon of bravery.

Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas was born on August 31, 1963, in Bloomington, Indiana, and raised in Houston. She was not just a book-smart University of Texas at Austin graduate; she was a certified emergency medical technician. Her adventurous spirit led her to hike, kayak, and even skydive on her 30th birthday.

Lauren’s love story with her husband, Jack Grandcolas, began at university. They settled in San Rafael, California, and in 2001, eagerly anticipated their first child. Lauren had departed her job at Good Housekeeping to author a book encouraging women to pursue their dreams.

On that fateful morning, Lauren was en route home from her grandmother’s funeral in New Jersey. She took an earlier flight than planned, finding herself in row 23 of United Airlines Flight 93. She called Jack, leaving him with a message of love despite the turmoil.

‘Honey, are you there? Jack? Pick up, sweetie. OK, well, I just wanted to tell you I love you. We’re having a little problem on the plane. … I’m totally fine. … I just love you more than anything. Just know that.’

The message said.

Lauren’s composed message echoed her unshakeable spirit. The actions of Lauren and her fellow passengers prevented the plane from reaching a target suspected to be the White House or U.S. Capitol.

In memoriam, Lauren’s sisters published her book, ensuring her spirited voice reached the masses.

Jonathan Sacks once said, ‘True courage is like a kite; a contrary wind raises it higher.’ Lauren embodied this courage. She was more than a passenger on Flight 93; she was a testament to resilience.

As we reflect on Lauren Grandcolas’ legacy, we are reminded of the strength of the human spirit. Her story implores us to embrace life passionately, as she did.
