MrBeast Addressed The Drama Over His New “Lunchly” And It Didn’t Go Well
MrBeast who faces several backlashes this year has gone viral over another backlash. Recently, he found himself in hot water over his new business venture, Lunchly.
This product, launched with Logan Paul and KSI, was marketed as a healthier alternative to Lunchables. However, many fans and influencers were quick to criticize it.
Surprisingly, always silent Mrbeast addressed this backlash by defending his product but things did not go as well as he thought.
They raised concerns about misleading health claims and questioned the ethics of using their platforms to market the product.
What is Lunchly?
Lunchly was presented as a convenient and healthier lunch option. It included items like Feastables chocolate (MrBeast’s brand), Prime drinks from Logan and KSI, along with crackers and cheese.
The creators claimed Lunchly had fewer calories, more protein, and added electrolytes, compared to Lunchables. The goal was to offer busy families a better choice for school lunches.
But almost immediately, critics began questioning how healthy Lunchly really was.
Start of the Drama
The drama started when YouTuber DanTDM voiced his opinion on Twitter. He called out MrBeast and his team for selling a product that seemed more about making money than offering real benefits to fans.
After this, the entire X erupted. People began criticizing Lunchly, focusing on the product’s health claims.
Some questioned why these influencers, who are not known for promoting health, would market a product aimed at kids’ nutrition. Another tweet expressed disappointment.
“Why not teach kids healthy eating habits? They’re comparing their product to Lunchables, which is already highly processed crap. None of them are passionate about health, only about their wallets. So disappointing.”
MrBeast’s Response to the Backlash
MrBeast defended Lunchly on Twitter. He compared it to Lunchables, saying his product was a better option.
He highlighted its use of real cheese instead of “cheese product” and its lower calorie and sugar content.
“Lunchables sells hundreds of millions of units and countless people eat it. Our goal is to give people a better alternative. Our turkey meal, for example, has 80 fewer calories, 60% less sugar, more electrolytes, and we use real cheese, not ‘cheese product,’ and higher-quality meat.”
He argued that while fresh meals like chicken and broccoli are healthier, many people don’t have the time to prepare them. For those who rely on premade lunches, Lunchly was a step in the right direction.
He added, “If someone is going to eat a premade meal like this (which millions do through Lunchables), I think giving them a higher-quality version at roughly the same price is a net good.”
Despite his defense, many fans weren’t convinced. They pointed out that Lunchly’s calorie count wasn’t enough for children’s daily needs.
Some viewed it as just another processed meal disguised as something healthier.
It was just fuel for the drama
The criticism didn’t stop there. Many fans began questioning MrBeast’s integrity, accusing him of only responding to criticism when it impacted his sales.
Tweets like “Only addresses allegations when it affects selling slop to kids” started circulating. Another tweet added “Kids need more than 230 calories for lunch. Your product is processed garbage with no nutritional value. Now address the allegations of running illegal lotteries, selling fake signatures, faking videos, endangering contestants, and hiring and protecting sexual predators.”
Many pointed out that the “electrolytes” in Lunchly were just a rebranding of sodium, which can be harmful if consumed in high amounts by kids. One healthcare professional tweeted, “Sodium getting rebranded as ‘electrolytes’ will be taught in marketing textbooks one day.”
The focus shifted from Lunchly’s health benefits to bigger questions about the ethics of influencer marketing. Critics began to compare Lunchly to organic cigarettes, saying that calling it healthier didn’t make it good for you.
One user tweeted “Agree that this is slightly less unhealthy. But it’s like selling organic cigarettes to smokers and calling it a positive impact.”
MrBeast’s defense about electrolytes also came under fire. Many pointed out that these electrolytes were mainly sodium, which wasn’t beneficial in high amounts.
One sarcastic tweet said “‘More electrolytes’ is just a crap ton of sodium 💀. Nah, you’re just trying to make more money lmao, just own it.”
Despite realizing that he needed to approach these issues differently, MrBeast has yet to fully address all the concerns raised about Lunchly. He continues to promote it as a better alternative to Lunchables, but many fans feel that his response has been insufficient.
What’s Next for MrBeast and Lunchly?
While Lunchly may still gain traction as a slightly better alternative to Lunchables, the bigger question remains. How will MrBeast manage the responsibilities of being both a content creator and a business owner?
