Former U.S. President Joe Biden has issued a heartfelt public statement following news of his diagnosis with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The 82-year-old shared his message on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a photo with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, and their cat, Willow.
“Cancer touches us all,” Biden wrote. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
Biden was diagnosed on Friday after visiting a doctor for worsening urinary symptoms. According to his personal office, tests revealed a Gleason score of 9 and Grade Group 5 prostate cancer, with metastasis to the bone — indicating an advanced and aggressive form of the disease. However, the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which doctors say allows for effective management.
The former president and his family are now evaluating treatment options while receiving an outpouring of support from across the nation.
