The cancer is classified as “high-grade” with a Gleason score of 9 out of 10 a sign of fast-growing and potentially rapidly spreading cancer cells. According to Cancer Research UK, this indicates a serious and advanced stage of the disease.
This announcement comes nearly a year after Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race amid growing concerns about his healthand age. He remains the oldest individual to have held the office in U.S. history.
Biden’s office emphasized that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, offering some hope that it can be managed with treatment. The former president and his family are currently evaluating treatment options.
