Gregory E. Carpenter, a ten-year-old boy with nothing but a lighter, an abandoned car, and a passion for fire, set out to construct the man who would become Dr. Danger without his knowledge.
Dr Ganger Biography
Dr. Danger is a true stunt gypsy road dog who spends most of his time on the road living life to the fullest and savoring every moment. An eternal optimist who also happens to be the father of two young children. He’s all of these things and more. More than a quarter of a century of daredevil stunts on the road have been devoted to Dr. Danger.
Carpenter was born in Sacramento, California, in the 1960s, and it wasn’t long before he found his calling as a performer. In contrast to the majority of kids, he and his two sisters preferred to play “Howdy, Partner!” instead of staging backyard plays. There was an ironing board at the beginning. They would sit at the ironing board for their stunts as if it were a saloon bar. One of them would walk into the saloon and give a slap on the other’s back before saying, “Howdy, Partner!”
When he was 11, a George Hamilton movie about Evel Knievel captivated him. He saw it three times in one afternoon. Carpenter finally decided to follow his heart after a long period of deliberation. It wasn’t long before he realized that he couldn’t just be another anonymous stuntman in Hollywood. He needed his audience to recognize his name and face. The open road was the obvious choice for him, given his personality.
A few years ago, he decided it was time to pass on his knowledge and experience after five Life Flights and five custom-made suits were either burned or cut off. Team Danger: A Rock ‘n Roll Wrecking Ball Swings from Town to Town was created in 2012.
Other television shows have shown interest in Carpenter’s hard work, including CBS Sunday Morning and MTV Nitro Circus.
What happened at AGT?
Dr. Danger & Mary’s “Firestorm: A Love Story” opened on Night 3 of the event. Even though they’d only known each other for six weeks, the two fell head over heels in love as they worked on the explosive stunt. The audition took place in the Middle Ages, and it was all a metaphor. Although Danger was trapped within a port-a-potty disguised as a castle, when it exploded, he “escaped” and went on to rescue Mary from a ring of fire while both were enveloped and “fighting off” other actors who were the villains in the play.
On the main stage, Nikki expressed her admiration for their performance and expressed her want for them to proceed simply so she could watch what they did beyond that point. Travis stated that he had no idea what was going on, but he praised the pyrotechnics and the acting—defined by Simon as “fearless” and “like goats.” Nikki and Simon voted “yes” for them, despite Travis’s “no” because of a lack of showmanship, and they will now advance to the next round with the assumption that they will deliver something more stunning in their next performance.
