Disney Celebrates 100 Years With An Iconic Short Film Of All Disney Characters!
As Disney Animation celebrates 100 years, the studio released the trailer for its nostalgic animated short film ‘Once Upon a Studio.’ Its name is a love letter to the studio, its artists, and its fans. The idea for this emotional tribute was pitched by writers-directors Dan Abraham and Trent Correy. Let’s take a look at what the short film brings to all Disney fans!
Disney Characters are back to life!
The film begins with a live-action shot in the lobby of Disney’s animation building. It starts with a young employee chatting with Disney legend Burny Mattinson. Then the iconic Disney character, Mickey Mouse comes to life. The studio’s signature Mickey Mouse is then joined by a long list of characters from Disney’s animated movies!
The short movie includes hand-drawn characters from films such as 101 Dalmatians, and Beauty and the Beast to computer-animated movies such as Zootopia and Encanto. This film features a joyful, entertaining, and emotional reunion. They assemble for a spectacular group photo to mark Disney’s 100th anniversary. The movie features 543 Disney characters from more than 85 feature-length and short films.
Altogether, around 40 voice actors are in this project. Paige O’Hara (Beauty and the Beast’s Belle), Dwayne Johnson (Moana’s Maui), and Josh Gad (Frozen’s Olaf) are some of such iconic voices. The film contains all-new animation with some sounds from the archives.
It includes people like Cliff Edwards, who played the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Disney’s 1940 animated classic Pinocchio. New voice actors will also take part in the production for additional classic characters. However, the Studio highlights how they have not used Artificial Intelligence in the process.
‘Once Upon a Studio’ short film expects to have its broadcast premiere on ABC during “The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!” on October 15, 2023, at 8/7c. ABC will begin the evening with an episode of “AFV.” It also follows a lineup that will include exclusive moments featuring Kelly Ripa. It will also have some sneak peeks at upcoming Disney projects.
