He wasn’t supposed to die that day.
Austin Metcalf was just 17. He went to a high school track meet with his team. His twin brother was there. His friends were there. His future was there.
And then it wasn’t.
He was stabbed in the chest , in front of dozens of people and died on the field.
The fight was over a tent.
Reports say Austin asked another student to leave a seating area meant for his team. That student was Karmelo Anthony. The confrontation got heated. Seconds later, Austin was on the ground.
“I put my hand on there. I grabbed his hand and looked in his eyes,” his brother Hunter said.
“I just saw his soul leave, and it took mine too.”
This isn’t just another viral case. This was someone’s son. Someone’s brother. Someone who’d never been in a fight before.
Austin had a 4.0 GPA. He was team MVP. He wanted to play college football.
His dad called him “a leader of men.”

“We want to turn this pain into something positive,” his father said.

Meanwhile, the teen accused of killing him, Karmelo Anthony has raised over $230,000 on a separate fundraiser.
But for now, the focus isn’t on courtrooms or controversy.
It’s on a 17-year-old who should still be here.
