An American Airlines passenger faces allegations of sexual misconduct during a Baltimore-to-Miami flight, according to a sheriff’s incident report.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office report identified the woman as Katy Inzer, 46. Authorities referred the Sept. 11 incident to the FBI, according to The Smoking Gun, which obtained the report through a public records request.
Passenger Alerted Flight Attendant
A traveler told a flight attendant that Inzer had removed her pants and was masturbating approximately 20 minutes after takeoff, the report said.
The attendant told officers that Inzer complied when instructed to get dressed and later slept for the remainder of the flight.
Officers who interviewed her after landing reported signs of intoxication. According to the report, Inzer said she had consumed several drinks before boarding and did not remember the alleged conduct because she had fallen asleep.
Case Referred to FBI
The sheriff’s office forwarded its report to an FBI agent because the alleged incident occurred during the flight, The Smoking Gun reported.
The outlet said the status of the federal inquiry was unclear and no charges appeared to have been filed. Inzer declined to comment to the publication. The allegations have not been established in court.
How Passengers Can Report Misconduct
The U.S. Department of Transportation advises passengers experiencing sexual misconduct to promptly notify a flight attendant or airline agent.
If reporting onboard is not possible, passengers should contact airport law enforcement afterward. Reports can also be submitted to the FBI at tips.fbi.gov or by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI.
