Audition
Young-Min’s audition on AGT 2024 featured a amazing sand magic performance set to the song “Wicked Game” by Ursine Vulpine & Annaca. He transformed sand into a metal ring and then into a glittering shower.
Sofia Vergara said, “I think it was mesmerizing. It was very different.”
Heidi Klum added, “I loved it, too. It was just so calming and beautiful to watch.”
Howie Mandel noted, “I agree. I have never seen anything like this. AGT is a great home to magic. We’ve had many winners, and I feel that you’re in that same echelon”
Simon Cowell, though less impressed, still voted “Yes” along with the other judges.
He advanced to the next round with the genuine support from the judges.
Quarter-Finals
Korean magician Young-Min’s quarterfinal performance left the judges in amazement as he performed a mesmerizing magic routine, incorporating sand to make his blindfold disappear, growing and lighting up flowers before vanishing them into thin air.
Heidi described his act as “mystical and magical,” Sofia called it “unexpected” and one of her favorites in AGT history, and Simon, who didn’t like his first audition, admitted that Young-Min had created “your moment” and believed it would carry him to the next round.
Howie praised him as “truly amazing,” especially for his “mindful and demure” stage presence. Young-Min received enough votes to enter the top 5 of the night and advanced to the Semifinals.
Semi-Final
Magician Young-Min tried to surprise everyone with a unique combination of sand, lights, and a quick-change trick in his latest routine.
Howie acknowledged Young-Min as “one of the most original magicians” he has seen, despite finding parts of the performance a bit confusing. Heidi felt the act wasn’t as strong as his previous ones, saying the magic seemed to be “in the background.”
Simon, too, expressed his disappointment, suggesting that the act came across as simply searching for a lightbulb in sand, missing the magic spark from earlier rounds.
However, Sofia found it “mysterious” and still appreciated the effort to bring something new to the table, even if it wasn’t perfect.
Anyway, Young Min could not move on to the final round after the round of votes.
