A press conference was held to welcome the actor after the military. “There were times when I felt embarrassed for being physically exhausted. But seeing my fellow soldiers working hard, I never regretted my decision [to join the Marine Corps],” said the actor when asked about his experience in the military.
After he returned from the Military, he announced his appearance in the historical fantasy K-drama “Mirror of the Witch,” playing Joseon’s famous doctor Heo Jun. Yoon also became a regular cast member of the Korean variety show “2 Days and 1 Night.” He continued to take part in many popular K-dramas like “Romance Full of Life,” “Grand Prince,” “Nokdu Flower,” and “Your Honour.”

Why should all men in South Korea serve in the Military?
Conscription, under the Constitution of South Korea, states that it is mandatory for all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years to serve in the Military. The duration of the service differs according to the military branch they serve. Usually, Active soldiers serve for a period of 18 months, Navy soldiers for 20 months, and Air Force soldiers for 21 months.
Male citizens between the above age range go through an ‘Impairment and Disability evaluation’ before enlisting in the “first citizen service” mandate.
