Rachael Wooding was born in Yorkshire on September 27, 1979. She was best recognized for her roles as Meat and Scaramouche in the Musical We Will Rock You. In Germany, she started her career performing in musicals like Cats and Starlight Express. Rachael went on to play Amber in the original London cast of Hairspray Musical after finding success on the West End in Saturday Night Fever.

In October 2008, Wooding quit the Musical Hairspray. On the UK tour that followed, she took the lead role in the musical Evita. Rachael began appearing as Mary Delgado in the Juke Box musical, Jersey Boys in 2011. After a year, she left the cast to focus on other projects.

In the semi-finals, Rachael sang Sara Bareilles‘ “Gravity” while standing inside a large golden wheel and having her face reflected on two digital screens on each side of the stage. Judges and the audience enthusiastically applauded her impressive performance, as usual. “You controlled that beautifully, and you really sang with power,” said Alesha.

Wooding did an excellent performance, yet Simon Cowell was unhappy about the song choice. Simon said in his comments that ‘This is a pop song, and this is for me, not the kind of record I think you should be performing, so whoever advised you on that, I think, made the bad decision. I am frustrated because there are better songs for you to sing.
