The famous roles were followed by less visible work
Moore’s early run included St. Elmo’s Fire, Ghost, A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal and Disclosure. G.I. Jane offered another highly visible lead role.
But the years after that period were not empty. The Golden Globes’ career record includes Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Bobby, Mr. Brooks, Flawless and Margin Call.
That sequence matters when people describe her as having disappeared. She continued making films, even when she was no longer at the center of the same kind of blockbuster attention.

Inside Out let her tell her own story
In 2019, Moore published Inside Out, a memoir about her career and personal experiences.
The publisher’s description, available through Google Books, identifies family relationships, marriage and balancing fame with motherhood as central subjects.
The book gave readers a longer account than a headline could provide. It also placed Moore in the position of narrator, rather than simply the subject of public commentary.
That does not mean every later career choice can be reduced to one personal event. Her working life developed across years, and memoir is one part of that history.

The Substance arrived when she questioned her future
The most revealing account of the turning point came from Moore herself.
Accepting her Golden Globe in January 2025, she recalled a producer describing her as a “popcorn actress” decades earlier. She said she had taken that to mean commercial success would not bring serious recognition.

Then she received Coralie Fargeat’s script for The Substance.
“The universe told me that you’re not done,” she said.
That is her explanation of the emotional significance of the role. It should not be turned into a claim that she had formally retired.
The film gave her a new opportunity at a moment when she doubted what opportunities remained. Her speech connected that experience to the wider pressure to feel attractive, successful or worthy enough.
Awards changed the conversation around her performance
Moore won the 2025 Golden Globe for female actor in a musical or comedy film for The Substance. The official Golden Globes record confirms the award.
She also received a leading-actress Oscar nomination. The Academy’s 2025 results distinguish the nomination from the win, which went to Mikey Madison for Anora.
That distinction matters. Moore’s awards season was significant without needing to turn an Oscar nomination into an Oscar victory.
Her career now included a kind of recognition she had publicly questioned whether she could receive. The conversation was focused on a performance, rather than only her earlier fame.

Landman provides a continuing television role
Moore plays Cami Miller in Landman, the drama set in the West Texas oil industry.
Its second season premiered in November 2025. On October 1, 2026, Paramount announced that season three had begun production in Fort Worth, Texas.
The returning cast includes Moore alongside Billy Bob Thornton, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter and Sam Elliott.
Production is the confirmed milestone. It does not mean the third season is already available to watch, and Paramount had not announced a release date in its current season guide.
For viewers asking where Moore is working now, the series offers a direct answer. Her recent career includes an ongoing television commitment alongside film roles.
Her work continued after the awards season
Moore also appears in I Love Boosters. Annapurna’s official page lists the Boots Riley film’s release as May 22, 2026.
Its ensemble includes Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, LaKeith Stanfield and Don Cheadle. That adds another filmmaker and another project to her work after The Substance.
The current picture is therefore larger than a single comeback performance. It includes a recent film release and a series moving into another season.
Moore’s Golden Globe speech described the damage of accepting someone else’s limit on her abilities. The work that followed gives that moment a concrete sequel: another script, another set, and roles still being made.
