Usher Has Waited His ‘Entire Life’ to Play Super Bowl Halftime | He’s Now Ready To Headline The Show!
Usher will be performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium presented by Apple Music. Usher spoke with CBS Mornings on Monday (September 25). He revealed that performing for the big game is something he’s hoped for since the beginning of his career!
In the Interview, he revealed the details of the phone conversation he had with Jay-Z. This is after finding out that he is to be next year’s Super Bowl performer. Let’s get to know more of what Usher told his fans in the interview.
The Grammy Winner spoke about how playing the Super Bowl has always been his dream and a hallmark of his career. He talked about how he broke the news to his family. “It’s a surprise that no one in the house can know,” he shared, setting the scene.
“So my kids don’t know, my mom can’t know, my brother can’t know, my family can’t know and I gotta keep this a secret. So Jay-Z calls and he’s like, ‘It’s your time. This is the magic moment.’ My girlfriend is there. … I’m like, ‘It’s happening’ and she’s like ‘No way’ and he’s like ‘Way.’ The hardest part is the suspense and keeping it a surprise for that time, because my kids were like, ‘Dad, you should play the Super Bowl! There’s a petition online!’ You know what? You gotta speak these things into existence. We knew literally days before the announcement,” said Usher in the interview.
Usher has been performing his vast collection of R&B hits during his Las Vegas concert series. Since entering the music scene in 1994 with his debut album “Usher,” he has sold over 80 million records. Not only that, he is an iconic winner of eight Grammys. Jay-Z issued a statement on Sunday, supporting his friend. “Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. “
Usher has previously appeared on the Super Bowl halftime stage in 2011 to sing “OMG” with the Black Eyed Peas, but the 2024 show will be his first time headlining. The Super Bowl will air on CBS on February 11, 2024.
