A US soldier killed Iran war tragedy has shaken a Minnesota community after a mother of two died just days before returning home from deployment.
Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, was among six U.S. service members killed in an Iranian drone strike on a military facility in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait.
The attack occurred Sunday as tensions escalated following U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran.

A Final Conversation With Her Family
Amor’s husband, Joey Amor, said he had exchanged text messages with her only hours before the deadly strike.
They talked about a minor fall she had suffered the night before. The next morning, he noticed she never replied.
“She was almost home,” he told reporters. “You don’t go to Kuwait thinking something’s going to happen, and for her to be one of the first it hurts.”
Mother, Soldier, and Community Member
Amor lived in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where she raised two children with her husband.
Her son is a high school senior, while her daughter is in fourth grade.
Family members described her as someone who loved gardening and often made homemade salsa using vegetables from her backyard garden.
She also enjoyed rollerblading and biking with her daughter.
Years of Military Service
Amor enlisted in the National Guard in 2005 as an automated logistics specialist before transferring to the Army Reserve in 2006.
She served with the 103rd Sustainment Command, a logistics unit responsible for supplying troops with food, equipment, and operational support.
Information about Army Reserve logistics units is available through the U.S. Army Reserve official website.
Drone Strike in Kuwait
The deadly strike targeted a U.S. facility in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait.
Her husband said that about a week earlier, she and other soldiers had been moved from the main base to a shipping container style building.
According to him, troops were dispersed in smaller groups because leaders feared the base could be targeted.
Updates about U.S. military operations in the Middle East are released through U.S. Central Command.
Other Soldiers Killed
Three other soldiers from the same logistics unit were also identified among the victims.
- Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida
- Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska
- Sgt. Declan Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa
The Pentagon has not yet released the names of the remaining two service members killed in the attack.
A Family Waiting for Someone Who Won’t Return
For Amor’s family, the loss is especially painful because her deployment was almost over.
Friends and neighbors in Minnesota have begun sharing tributes honoring her service and dedication to her family.
As the conflict with Iran continues, her story has become a reminder of the personal sacrifices made by military families across the country.
