President Donald Trump unleashed a shocking threat against New York City voters just hours before the mayoral election, warning that electing ‘communist’ candidate Zohran Mamdani would mean slashing federal funds. ‘If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins… it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds,’ Trump posted on Truth Social.
This isn’t the first time; Trump echoed similar sentiments on CBS’s 60 Minutes, calling it a waste to fund a ‘communist’-led NYC. Past actions include withholding billions for projects like tunnels and counterterrorism amid disputes.
‘I don’t want to send, as President, good money after bad.’
Andrew Cuomo, running as an independent, quickly aligned, telling 77WABC: ‘Now it’s gonna be up to the Republicans, and I hope they listen to the president.’ He warned on Fox News that Trump would ‘go through Mamdani like a hot knife through butter.’
Zohran Mamdani fired back at a Queens rally: ‘This funding is not something that Donald Trump is giving us… This is something that we are, in fact, owed in New York.’ Polls show Mamdani leading with 41% support.
