The action-comedy series starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as mismatched partners overcoming their differences to fight crime. The push comes as Ellison is set to take over Paramount, the studio behind the original films.
Since the original films, the franchise has been largely dormant, partly due to controversies around director Brett Ratner. In recent years, Ratner shadowed Melania Trump for an Amazon documentary, seemingly setting the stage for a comeback.
