What most visitors don’t realize is that the feet in this surreal sculpture aren’t generic. Rottenberg used 3D scans of real human feet from friends, strangers, and even people she met during the project, and blended them together to form these bizarre, hyper-realistic “Frankenfeet.”
Some feet are flat-footed, some have bunions, and one even looks freshly pedicured. It’s oddly personal and a little unsettling, once you know the truth.
