Japan to Fund Up to $21 Billion in GlobalFoundries Chip Plants in New York as U.S. Takes Bigger Stake
GlobalFoundries will build and run up to two new chip factories in Malta, N.Y., paid for with up to $21 billion from Japan under a U.S.-Japan trade deal, while the Commerce Department takes a roughly 4% stake.
