Around 3:10 p.m., the ESU team had received a call regarding a woman who seemed ready to jump from the ledge of a 54-floor building, according to police reports.

The police were on one side of a glass divider. The woman was on the other side. The police had used a rope to reach the woman. The NYPD praised the daring rescue effort, stating, “When the public needs help, they call the police. When the police need help, they call ESU.” Social media users also applauded the officers’ bravery. The New York Post reported that the 33-year-old woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
