South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker spoke candidly about their decision to target Donald Trump and the MAGA movement in Seasons 27 and 28 of their iconic Comedy Central show.
The duo explained to The New York Times that “politics is now pop culture,” making it integral to their brand of satire.
The show’s episodes, airing since late July 2025, showcase Trump in a myriad of scandalous scenarios, including an infamous relationship with Satan. The creators assert this direction wasn’t an innate political shift—rather, it’s a reflection of ubiquitous political discourse infiltrating every facet of life.
Stone and Parker are committed to preserving South Park‘s irreverent spirit, emphasizing that while Trump is a current focus, extremism on all sides will always be fair game for their parody.
Parker stated, “We had to show our independence and stimulate the conversation,” highlighting their fearless comedic approach.
Despite new Paramount management ties to Trump, Stone vows creative freedom remains intact, hinting at new taboos they’re poised to tackle.
As they forge ahead, South Park continues to reset cultural norms with satire that isn’t shy of controversy. Episodes run until December 10, 2025, challenging audiences to reassess the intersection of entertainment and information.
