Son Heung-min posted a video on the Spurs website after his military. “It’s been a very busy three weeks. It was a good experience, I couldn’t say everything that I’ve done, but I really enjoyed it. Those guys were nice. The three weeks were tough, but I tried to enjoy it. I don’t know how the people felt, but for me, the three weeks have been long, but it was a good experience. I enjoyed it,” said Heung-min when asked about his experience in the military.
After he returned from the Military, he took part in the Premier League season in 2020-2021. In the second match, he scored 4 goals, taking the team to win against Southhampton with a 5-2. In a match against Manchester United, he contributed towards a spectacular win for Tottenham. Considering his masterful performance, the player was awarded the Player of the Month in the Premier League for the third time.

Why should all men in South Korea serve in the Military?
Conscription, under the Constitution of South Korea, states that it is mandatory for all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years to serve in the Military. The duration of the service differs according to the military branch they serve. Usually, Active soldiers serve for a period of 18 months, Navy soldiers for 20 months, and Air Force soldiers for 21 months.
Male citizens between the above age range go through an ‘Impairment and Disability evaluation’ before enlisting in the “first citizen service” mandate.
