Background
Mia has been an icon in the Sussex County community since she was a kid and is a student at Franklin Borough Elementary School. She recently performed during the Sussex County Miners’ Talent Show on July 11 and sang the national anthem at the New York Red Bulls game on June 29.
This young girl, Mia Soleil Sanchez has a long history of winning contests around the country. She won 3rd place in the Sussex County Idol’s Elementary Division in 2018 and also in 2018, Mia placed 1st in The Voice Mid Atlantic Idol’s Elementary Division, placed 3rd in The Voice Musical Theatre’s Elementary Division, and placed 2nd in The Voice Open Jazz Solo’s Elementary Division.
Later, in 2021 she won the elementary divisions of the Northeast Music Teacher Association Competition and the Sussex County Talent Show in 2022. She also participated in a vocal masterclass on carpool karaoke by vocal coach Cheryl Porter.

Mia sang the Grammy winner Billie Eilish’s song about love and heartbreak and pulled the entire audience into her performance. “Mia Soleil Sanchez, I think that’s a name people are going to note tomorrow,” Howie Mandel commented.
This 13-year-old’s powerful voice seemed to be growing a throughout the performance. Simon Cowell said, “You know what was cool is that you kind of grew with the song and that’s not easy,” and he added “I think that means you’ve got great taste, you know where you’re going, so I really, really liked this audition.”
