In 2012, Brazil’s TV Globo reported on Lilica, a dog living in a scrapyard in São Carlos, in São Paulo state. Each evening she visited teacher Lúcia Helena de Souza, who fed her and packed food for her to take home.
De Souza said she noticed Lilica looking at the remaining food and began wrapping it for her. The dog carried the bag back to the other animals sharing her home. Globo described a roughly 2 km journey. Viral versions claiming 12 km through São Paulo city change both the distance and location.
