Hong Jong-hyun commented via his agency about his experience in the military, “I have been discharged after successfully completing my military service. There were difficult times in the military, but they were times that allowed me to have valuable experiences more than anything.”
After he returned from the Military, he announced his appearance in the web series “Stock Struck” and “Race.” He also took part in the Television show “Learning Camping” as a cast member of the shows.

Why should all men in South Korea serve in the Military?
Conscription, under the Constitution of South Korea, states that it is mandatory for all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years to serve in the Military. The duration of the service differs according to the military branch they serve. Usually, Active soldiers serve for a period of 18 months, Navy soldiers for 20 months, and Air Force soldiers for 21 months.
Male citizens between the above age range go through an ‘Impairment and Disability evaluation’ before enlisting in the “first citizen service” mandate.
