Julian Ryan, 27, died on July 4 while trying to save his wife, children, and mother from rising floodwaters in Ingram, Texas. His mother-in-law, Pamela Baker, called him “irreplaceable” and praised his heroic final act.
As water from the Guadalupe River surged into their home, Ryan punched through a window to help his family escape. The glass severed an artery in his arm. “He almost cut it clean off,” said his wife, Christinia Wilson.
Despite emergency calls, help never arrived in time. Ryan’s last message to his family was heartbreaking: “I’m sorry, I’m not going to make it. I love y’all.” His body was recovered hours later.
Loved ones describe Ryan as optimistic, loving, and devoted. “He was their hero — and mine,” said Baker. A GoFundMe has been launched to support the grieving family.
