The White House UFC fight is now facing a federal lawsuit days before Trump’s 80th birthday event.
A federal lawsuit is seeking to block an upcoming UFC fight card planned for the White House South Lawn, arguing that the Trump administration unlawfully approved a private sporting event on federal land.
The lawsuit was filed Saturday by the Public Integrity Project on behalf of two Virginia residents. It targets the June 14 event, which is timed for President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Brendan Ballou, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, called the event a “private, commercial, corrupt use” of national monuments for private gain.
The lawsuit says National Park Service regulations prohibit sporting events on federal parklands. It also argues that Congress did not consent to a towering arch structure overlooking the event area.

White House Calls the Lawsuit Baseless
The White House rejected the lawsuit and defended the event.
In a statement reported by AP, the White House called the legal challenge “obstructionist, baseless, and dilatory.” It said the event is no different from other White House events on the South Lawn and permitted events on the Ellipse and National Mall.
The UFC did not immediately respond to AP’s request for comment.
The event remains scheduled for June 14 unless a court orders otherwise.
Crews Are Building an Octagon Arena on the South Lawn
Construction is already underway for the UFC setup. Crews are erecting an octagon shaped cage and supporting structures on the South Lawn.
Trump has said the project will include a 5,000 seat arena outside the White House. Large screens are also expected at the nearby Ellipse.
