A New Year’s celebration at a popular Swiss ski resort ended in tragedy after a fire ripped through a crowded bar in the early hours of the morning.
Authorities said several people were killed and dozens more injured when the blaze broke out at a bar in Crans-Montana, a well known resort in the Swiss Alps.
The fire started around 1:30 a.m. local time as celebrations were underway.
More Than 100 People Inside the Bar
Police said more than 100 people were inside the bar when the fire began.
The venue, called Le Constellation, is located in a resort area popular with international tourists celebrating the New Year.
Emergency services were called after reports of flames and possible explosions inside the building.
Video shared on social media shows people climbing out of windows as smoke and fire spread behind them.

Footage from the scene shows ambulances, fire engines, and police vehicles flooding the area late at night.
Police spokesperson Gaëtan Lathion confirmed the severity of the incident.
“The fire started around 1:30 a.m. this morning in a bar called Le Constellation,” Lathion said. “More than a hundred people were in the building, and we are seeing many injured and many dead.”
The blaze was brought under control by early morning, but the area remains sealed off.

Authorities said the exact cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
Early reports suggested that pyrotechnics used during a New Year’s event may have triggered an explosion that led to the blaze.
