Mobile County deputies were alerted to the investigation after a tip revealed Staples allegedly hitting a child with a belt. The arrest came after the video, taken within her home, surfaced on social media.
“This was abuse and an assault, far beyond discipline,” Sheriff Burch stated. “We counted around 20 something strikes and then grabbing the child by the hair and striking across his arms.”
