Columbia University has agreed to pay $200 million to the Trump administration in a sweeping settlement over claims that the school failed to adequately protect Jewish students amid the Gaza war protests.
Columbia was the first university targeted by the administration for its handling of antisemitic incidents during last year’s pro-Palestinian protests. The Trump administration suspended funding in March and demanded sweeping changes.
Acting President Claire Shipman said the deal helps Columbia “move forward” after intense federal scrutiny and protects “the values that define us.”
