Communities across the central United States are on high alert as meteorologists warn of another wave of severe storms, just days after deadly tornadoes killed at least 29 people across several states.
The National Weather Service forecasts include a mix of dangerous weather patterns: powerful thunderstorms, potentially baseball-sized hail in the Plains, heavy snow in parts of the West, and life-threatening heat in the South. Areas like Oklahoma, Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas are particularly at risk. Tornado watches and flood alerts have already been issued.
Over the weekend, tornadoes wreaked havoc across Kentucky, Missouri, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Kentucky alone reported 19 deaths and significant home destruction. In St. Louis, Missouri, five fatalities were confirmed and thousands of homes were affected. Emergency crews continue recovery operations as the region prepares for yet another storm front.
Forecasters warn the next round of storms could bring “strong to intense” tornadoes, high winds, and flooding. With infrastructure already weakened, state officials are urging residents to remain alert and take precautions.
