Alexander Harrington faces a first-degree murder charge after allegedly telling authorities he killed his 77-year-old mother in Florida.
Harrington, 50, is accused of fatally stabbing Susan Baratto at their home in the Monterey Lake community west of Delray Beach on September 11.
Police Describe Calls Reporting the Killing
According to an arrest affidavit reported by CBS12, Harrington called Boca Raton’s non-emergency dispatch center that afternoon and said he had killed his mother.
The call was transferred to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators allege he again reported the killing and provided the home’s address.
Deputies detained Harrington outside and found Baratto inside with multiple stab wounds. They also recovered a knife nearby, according to the affidavit.
While paramedics treated a cut on his arm, Harrington allegedly told them, “I killed my mom.”
Social Media Profile Described Healing Work
Local 10 News reported that Harrington’s Facebook profile described him as an “intuitive healer” and life coach.
Those descriptions were his own claims about his work. They do not establish professional qualifications or explain the alleged crime.
Held Without Bond
A judge ordered Harrington held without bond on the first-degree premeditated murder charge, CBS12 reported.
The affidavit did not establish a motive. Harrington has been charged, not convicted, and the allegations remain subject to court proceedings.
