China has issued a strong warning to countries considering new trade agreements with the United States, cautioning against deals that could harm Beijing’s interests. This follows the U.S. announcement of increased tariffs on Chinese imports, intensifying already strained relations between the two global powers.

In a formal statement, China’s Ministry of Commerce stated it “firmly opposes any party reaching a deal at the expense of China’s interests,” signaling potential retaliatory measures. The warning comes as U.S. allies in Asia—including Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan—engage in separate trade negotiations with Washington.

These developments follow former President Donald Trump’s reentry into the spotlight with aggressive tariff proposals and renewed focus on reshaping America’s trade landscape.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged allies to approach China collectively, suggesting unified strategies to counter China’s economic policies. Meanwhile, markets remain watchful of possible escalation, with global supply chains potentially at risk if the standoff deepens.
