T.O.P is a 35-year-old Korean singer, dancer and songwriter who has been in the Korean Entertainment industry for 17 Years in the industry. He couldn’t hold a fan meeting before leaving for the military. Fans were heartbroken by the announcement of his enlistment.

At 29, T.O.P. enlisted in the military nearly 11 years after his debut.
T.O.P. was pulled from duty after being formally charged with marijuana usage. T.O.P. was investigated by officials after trainee Han Seo Hee admitted to vaping the drug. After failing a hair follicle test, T.O.P. was removed from his military post as a police officer to face trial.
T.O.P. resumed his military service as a public service worker.

Why should all men in South Korea serve in the Military?
Conscription, under the Constitution of South Korea, states that it is mandatory for all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years to serve in the Military. The duration of the service differs according to the military branch they serve. Usually, Active soldiers serve for a period of 18 months, Navy soldiers for 20 months, and Air Force soldiers for 21 months.
Male citizens between the above age range go through an ‘Impairment and Disability evaluation’ before enlisting in the “first citizen service” mandate.
