Delta 8 is becoming more and more popular these days, especially among cannabis enthusiasts. In this article, we’ll talk about Delta 8 and how it works. We’ll also discuss the ways you can take Delta 8 and where it’s legal. Read on!

What is Delta 8?

Delta 8 is among the many cannabinoids extracted from the cannabis plant. It often comes from hemp instead of marijuana and tends to occur in small amounts. Apart from Delta 8, other well-known cannabinoids include:

  • CBD
  • CBG
  • CBN
  • CBC
  • Delta 9 THC
  • Delta 8 THC

The Delta 8 THC cannabinoid can be found in various products today, such as vapes and edibles (other times, vapes can have flavors mimicking edible food, such as the product found here:

How Does It Work?

The body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a network of receptors helping with the regulation of specific bodily processes, including those carried out by the nervous and immune systems.

The ECS has two receptor types:

  • CB1 Receptors: these are typically found in brain cells and the nervous system
  • CB2 Receptors: these are typically found in the body and the immune system

Cannabinoids bind to these receptors and are broken down to produce effects. Delta 8 usage has the following common effects:

  • Uplifted feelings
  • Easier relaxation
  • Better focus and concentration

While scientific research on the effects of Delta 8 on the body is ongoing, the results have been promising. Cannabinoids have been found to have a wide range of benefits for their users.

Does Delta 8 Get You High?

Delta 8 is a psychoactive compound, so you may feel some effects from using it. However, the experience isn’t as strong as the effects of Delta 9 THC, which is a more familiar name to more people.

Simply put, Delta 8 has a far milder effect. Most people report feeling relaxed and clear-headed after using Delta 8.

How to Take Delta 8?

Delta 8 comes in a variety of forms, so your choice of taking it will depend on your preference.

The most readily available forms are edibles, such as gummies. Take the suggested dosage size and wait for an hour and a half before determining whether or not you should take more. Edibles require a bit of time to take effect, so edible users require a bit of patience.

Vapes/Vape Cartridges

Vapes and vape cartridges are also common. Inhaling Delta 8 via a vaping device produces the fastest results among all the different methods of intake. However, vaping faces controversies and not everyone enjoys using vapes.

Oil Tinctures

Delta 8 oil tinctures are similar to CBD oils. You unscrew the cap from the bottle, fill the dropper to the desired level, and squeeze the dropper under your tongue. Hold the oil for 60 to 90 seconds before swallowing.

Regardless of your intake method, it’s generally advised to start low and slow — you don’t want to be overwhelmed with a high dose at the beginning. Most newbies start with around 10 mg of Delta 8 and work their way to increasing their consumption.
