Best Dog Foods You Can Prepare at Home and Are Harmless

Dogs have different digestive systems than humans; thus, they cannot eat and digest anything. Thus it is very important to know what you can feed your pets. Not all human foods are safe for dogs, but some human foods can benefit dogs.

Suppose you are out of dog food or want to add some variety to your dog’s food rather than giving them dog food regularly. Then, this article will help you learn some delicious and healthy recipes you can make for your dog at your home.

1.      Boiled Eggs

This is a very easy option to boil eggs for your dog and has high nutrients that help your dog maintain a healthy lifestyle. Some people feed raw eggs to their pets, but there is no benefit to it, so make sure to boil and cook eggs properly. Boiled eggs have many beneficial minerals and vitamins, including fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin B12, iron, folate and selenium.

Eggs are also a good source of protein, but some dogs have an allergy to such protein. So keep this thing in mind and confirm this with the vet. But the quantity of food depends on your dog’s age, size and breed. So confirm with the vet how much egg you can give to avoid digestion problems.

2.      Boiled or Steamed Vegetables

Vegetables are a great source of vitamins, calcium, iron, and proteins which play a crucial role in maintaining the healthy kidney, immune system, skin and nerves of dogs. You can simply boil or steam vegetables, including carrots, peas, green beans, kale, spinach, celery, cauliflower, and cabbage. Raw carrots, beets, or cucumbers are also beneficial for a dog’s dental health.

You can also use canned vegetables but wash them properly before including them in your dog’s meal. There is a 10% rule for the dog’s meal, as only 10% of their daily needed calories must be included in one treat or meal.

Vegetables contain low calories that help your dog maintain a healthy weight. Never add onion to any meal because it is toxic for them. Also, train your dog so that they do not eat anything that can harm them; you can use  dog fence invisible or electric fences to train your dog.

3.      Fish or Chicken

Dogs love chicken so much, and it can be ideal dog food that you can cook easily at home. But do not add spices; just feed them boiled or steamed chicken. Chicken is also healthy for a dog’s digestive system. You can also mix it with plain boiled rice and boiled vegetables to make a good meal for your dogs.

Consider boneless chicken for the little puppies because they do not have well-developed teeth for bones. Fishes such as salmon and tuna can also be a portion of delicious and healthy dog food because it contains a good amount of fatty acids and proteins. But make sure to cook it well before giving it to your dogs.

4.      Dairy and Pantry Items

Some dairy products can be given to dogs in small quantities because they contain high fiber and fat that can create digestive problems if dogs eat a high amount. But yogurt is good for their health as it includes high protein and calcium. So you can give low-fat milk, cheese, and yogurt.

Some packaged items or precooked products can also be given to the dogs, including blueberries, oatmeal, brown rice, and peanut butter. Just ensure the products do not contain excessive salts and any ingredients your dog is allergic to. You can also give fruit salad, including fruits such as apples and bananas.
